Hello Hampstead
The Lazy Londoner
[ I have lived in London my whole life, but I tend to stay in my corner of it, so in this 'Lazy Londoner' series of posts, I have promised myself to go out to explore and document more of this beautiful city...]
This weekend I spent the afternoon in Hampstead with my best friend. In conversations where we discuss our dream places to live- hers being a townhouse in Earls Court, whilst mine is a £15 million estate in the centre of Hampstead (obviously) which I will live in with my husband Timothee Chalamet (obviously)
I digress….
It occurred to me we hadn’t actually spent a proper afternoon in Hampstead, so I took it upon myself to be her tour guide for the day
We started the day by hopping on the overground, straight to Hampstead station
We arrived to grey skies with a typical February chill. With thin jackets and a misplaced optimism in the weather, our plans diverted slightly- choosing a pub lunch rather than a Hampstead heath promenade. We strolled around the high street, and did some shopping- free people, brandy melville, and some great little charity shop and vintage finds
we then went to the local favourite ‘The flask’ and both got sausage and mash
(10/10 location, 9/10 food, 9/10 setting, 8/10 service. Overall a solid 9/10)
We then ventured back into the cold, and wandered around some more, catching the last few shops before closing
One of our favourite little finds was the Hampstead Oxfam where we got some great affordable vintage pieces
We then stumbled into the Freemasons Arms for some dessert, going for the rhubarb and apple crumble with a chamomile tea and a chai latte
My love affair with Hampstead continues, and it really is the best place to spend an afternoon. Already preparing for more visits in the spring!
